Polk Street Senior Housing

This adaptive re-use of a historic structure into 32 condominium units for senior residents included creating a five-story vertical addition cohesively integrated with the preserved ground floor structure and facades. The design acknowledges the existing dominant Polk Street facade by accentuating the angled glass bays of the retail level in the residence floors. Horizontal elements are introduced into the addition to reflect the historic cornice and brick banding in the original building.
