723 Taylor

This is an eight-story infill condominium project of 12 units. It is situated on a narrow lot in the Nob Hill district of San Francisco, responds architecturally to the neighborhood vernacular while using contemporary building materials. The modern, clean lines of the aluminum and glass bay windows and terracotta rainscreen serve to both contrast and highlight the architecture of the adjacent historic buildings. Cedar wood siding warms up the pedestrian entry at the ground floor. The mix of townhouses, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom residences have views towards the city skyline or to an interior landscaped courtyard space.

The design of this rear yard followed the precedent-setting 3208 Pierce Street and includes the same elements: ordered hierarchy of materials and surface interspersed with planters and choice shrubs.
